Did you guys catch the first episode of The Amazing Race Asia? We started off in Jakarta at Monas to then run off to a nearby parking lot. In the parking lot we had to find 1 of 10 compasses that showed 210 degrees north. The last team to finish the task got eliminated 10 minutes after the starting line. Can you believe that? What a twist! It really could have happen to anyone as there were a 1000 compasses hanging on the wall. The next clue lead us to Bahari museum that held a clue hidden on top of a tower. It was a detour, “FIX” or “FREIGHT”. We chose freight and had to fill up 4 large barrels of sand. The sand was on a boat with no shade, and the worst part?
We had to dig with our hands. I wish you guys could see the blisters and cuts we all had on our hands after the challenge, it was tough! As you could see from the episode, we arrived pretty late at the detour but managed to finish second, and even got to Kebun Raya Bogor to receive our clue 2nd. The crazy part was when we needed to find our Ondel-Ondels matching partner at Taman Teijsmann. It felt like nobody knew where it was or what I was saying. After watching the episode I’m pretty sure it was because of my overly Norwegian accent.
We finished 8th on the mat meaning we are still in the race and will be competing for the 100.000 USD.
Don’t forget to tune in on AXN on the 20th of October. Can you guess where we are heading to next?
