    Finding my fitness

Thanks to EVLUTION NUTRITION for my stash!

After years of doing strength training I’ve decided to do something different. I’ve always seen cardio, high reps and running as a challenge, and never really focused on those parts at all, unless it was for aesthetics. My “strength” training the past year was more in the direction of a lean body accompanied with a more calorie restricted diet, not really with any purpose at all. Just looking somewhat fit. That being said, this period has been much more enjoyable than when I was just focusing on the numbers and being stronger everyday. Because that also meant hitting the right macros. It takes time which I haven’t had much of lately. I think losing weight is a lot easier than gaining weight in the right way. Gaining requires a lot of counting calories and (for me) loosing weight can be as easy as cutting out egg yolks, fats and treats while increasing my protein intake. But remember, every body works differently! The main reason for this change is that the Spartan race is coming to Thailand in September and I’ll be joining it! I’ve just started Guava Pass again to try improve my cardio with HIIT classes and boot camps and wow, I’m in bad shape. I’m positive we’ll have some fun though and I’m actually quite excited for it! 3.5 months to go!

If you are thinking about joining the Spartan race, use my code “anitabye” when you sign up to get a better price.

    Exploring Bangkok’s historic riverside heritage

I was lucky enough to get chosen as one out of twenty bloggers to take part of the TAT Newsroom Blogger Campaign launch. We were divided in two separate groups exploring 3 sites each, starting from the Oriental pier on Bangkok’s riverside. Our first stop was the stunning East Asiatic building. This Venetian style building is one of the many buildings with European heritage scattered around Thailand. We actually got to enter the building as well which made the experience quite unique. Later on we walked over to Assumption cathedral, another beautiful building with European influence. It’s quite a sight, you wouldn’t expect to see a church like this in Bangkok.

1st. stop East Asiatic building. It used to be the headquarters in Thailand for the Dutch East Asiatic company, founded in 1897 and after over a century, today, is still going. The building was built in the 1901 in grand Venetian style to impress visitors from all over the world who arrived in Bangkok by ship. It’s hard to miss this building while touristing around on the Bangkok riverside. We were so lucky to be able to enter the building and explore!

2nd stop, Assumption cathedral. This chruch feels very much like Europe. It’s a Romanesque building completed in 1919 and built for Bangkok’s Frebch catholic community. Unfortunately the original windows vere destroyed in World War ll, but have been replaced with new stained windows which has become quite famous.

3rd stop- O.P. Place. This is where the tradition of air-conditioned shoppping started. Thank you! The building is beautiful and boast of a charming vibe and wooden details. Definitely worth a little visit, just for a look or for some high-end shopping.

Hands down the best roti I’ve had in Thailand. Not too sweet and so easy to eat. Mine disappeared in 10 seconds. If you are ever around the Mandarin Oriental, take a stroll down to the muslim community and try these delicious treats!

You can imagine we were all drenched from walking around in the heat, so we were all excited to go to hang out at Bangkok’s first air-conditioned mall, O.P. Place. I rarely explore in this area and have never heard about this mall, but it was fun to see a mall with so much history. Curved wooden stairs leading you to a green elevator and a large chandelier in the center of the entrance, this Neo-classical style building was perfect for pictures. We also made a small visit to the muslim community and tried some amazing roti before walking over to Mango Tree restaurant for some talks and traditional Thai food. The main speaker,  Luc Citrinot made quite a good presentation about the Bangkok’s culture and heritage and has also made a map where you can locate all the European heritage sites along Thailand. There’s also an app called EUNIC for those of you who can’t get your hands on a map. We are already planning a little tour to go check out the sites. There are so many buildings we have yet to seen!

A big thanks to TAT Newsroom for organizing!

    Back on a fresh start

    girl bangkok

Hi all my lovely readers. I’m sorry I haven’t updated you guys much lately.  As I mentioned earlier I’ve been finishing up my thesis, and now I’m finally done. There were also events after events last month and I just could not miss Together Festival. The first day was quite disappointing actually, I had expected so much more from Martin Garrix and Marshmello. The second day was amazing though, Axwell & Ingrosso killed it and Armin had a finale show like no other. I want to say that I’m resting forever after this- and I am.. just not today, as it’s gonna be the Cinco De Mayo of the year at Casa Azul tonight. Though I have been doing a 6 day juice cleanse from Lifestyle Juicery which has definitely helped me back to a fresh start. More about the juicing, Maldives and what I’ve been up to lately tomorrow! <3

Afternoon tea at the Siam Kempinski

5* for the creamy butter for the scones! Am I weird for choosing green tea for my afternoon tea?

As most of you know already from reading my blog, you know my love for afternoon tea is real. There’s never been a place that has quite managed to steal my heart away as the Dhara Dhevi in Chiang Mai, but now I found someone who can match them. Not mainly because of the eatables, Dhara Dhevi will always have my heart there, mostly because of their amazing macaroons. They make the best pistachio macaroons, but they also have original and exciting flavours like mango sticky rice. So yummy!

This is the spot for afternoon tea! Hanuman Bar.

    Such a pretty set-up.

It was only me and Tom who went and there was no chance for us to finish it all. You get one pot of hot chocolate, two pots of tea of your choice and all these sweet and savory treats- I think this is perfect for 4 people. We didn’t even eat before we got here!

Though the sweet and savoury pieces at the Siam Kempinski were all very delicious, it was more the experience and service that made the trick. I’ll give them 10/10 for making the best hot chocolate ever, that means a lot as I come from Norway, where hot chocolate is a stample drink in the winter. The staff is on point- carefully explaining every single ingredient of the hot chocolate as they make it in front of you. Pure chocolate, chilli, orange… So if you’re ever in Siam Paragon or that area, wanting to sit down and relax, this is the spot. The price is right, and the set can easily be enough for up to four people.

    Sugar happy!

I’ve been really good with dieting up until now- starting for before we went to Maldives (video here). I even hit my number and was planning to stay there, but then all these events are coming up, people coming to visit (not complaining guys, I love visitors!), birthday parties, Songkran. We’ve been out 3 times this week, and the coming week there’s another 2 birthday parties, AND Kolor Warehouse in the weekend. So I might as well eat as I please for now, I’m certainly not going to cut down on food to give space for the cocktails and cake. Ah, then there’s Together festival on the 29th- the lineup is too big to miss out on! I have to say, after hitting this age I dread going out. Once a week and I’m already complaining about bad habits. So these past weeks have and are going to take a toll on my health, hehe. For sure I’ll be welcoming May AND my 25th year on this planet with something different from what April had to bring.

    Happy Songkran!!

Hi lovlies! I’m just tuning in to wish all my Thai readers a happy new year! Enjoy your holidays guys because you deserve it! I’ve been in pretty much every day to finish up my thesis, but we did go to enjoy some tunes and water play at the pool party Marriott Marquis the other day. Hey I even got a good splash while walking there and back, I think that’s enough for me this year around. So thankful nobody’s splashed me with ice water yet! Let’s see what tonight brings though – you never know!

I’ve definitely been getting in the gym hours  though. There’s nothing better than an empty  gym. Today we met up with our buddy Rishi and went training at his gym- The Cascade. It was such a great gym. Too bad it’s so far away. We also finally got to see their baby Thea, such a cutie!

    Again, H A P P Y    S O N G K R A N ! Be safe!

    Having fun with Ricola

I was lucky enough to get invited to Ricola’s influencers party at Hotel Muse in Langsuan the other day. The event was held at the roof top at the Speakeasy roof top bar, just in time for sunset. As I told you guys earlier the event was very secretive, and no one of us knew the guest list nor what to expect from the event. I went there with a somewhat sceptical mind, but ended up positively surprised in every way!  They put so much tought into the event, games, prizes, and a perfect showcase of Ricola goodies. There was even a Swiss guy playing the alphorn and the accordion! Oh, and let’s not forget the Ricola inspired spiced up drinks, they definitely got the party started!

Check out the new travel sized bags, I see them everywhere I go now. So easy to put in your bag and carry around, AND they’re sugar-free!

It’s funny because I was born and raised in Norway and Ricola is quite big back home… My grandaunt will always have a box of Ricola Original herb flavour lying around. As a treat but also to clear her throat. I can’t even count all the times she’s called me to ask if I couldn’t bring her a box of these life saving pills. Safe to say, I will be bringing her some of the stuff from my goodie bag when I fly to Norway next week!

Thank you Ricola for hosting this amazing event, and do check out their Thai website for more info, or- just step into any 7 eleven, Tesco or Family to grab a box/bag!
