Saturday fun at Emquartier

Selfies are always fun with my babes, what a hunk… hihi

I know… this photo is the worst, I got to excited and had a bite already but there will be a better one once we upload from the camera. Tom has got me hooked on rice krispies!!

Me and Lotta ended up having their lunch set with was fish and chips and prawn caesar salad. I only snapped a photo of our main, see what I mean about huge portions?

Went to Emquartier today to have a little lunch meeting with Lotta and Vishal. We decided to have some fish and chips at Jones & Mowlem again since they hadn’t tried it yet. Vishal ended up with pasta, and Tom on his low carb regimen ended up with a salmon salad, and me and Lotta fish & Chips. Everyone was happy with their food, it’s quite nice… though… the fish and chips is way to big for one person. I know… we shouldn’t complain.

Being as sweet toothed as we are… or at least I am… we had to get ice cream at Emac & Bolios. I got a rice crispy cone with cake batter ice cream, it was super yummy. I’ve been wanting to try this flavour and cone since the first time I saw it and it was just as tasteful as it looks.

After we finished our ice creams, we decided to go for more treats at Yoo Moo, my most fave frozen yoghurt place in Thailand so far. I am a little annoyed we don’t get to switch around on the ice creams on their menu, but whatever. I guess you’ve got to make your own one then. I always end up picking the kick-starter but would love more berries on it.

We then went to the garden to take some photos but since we haven’t uploaded them on the computer this iPhone pics will have to do.

Also got lots of things to bring home to Norway. It’s going to be so good to go back for a little while, I haven’t had a long holiday for ages… uhm… well, I’m only going for a week, but still going to be a nice quiet break from Bangkok. I haven’t seen most of my fam and friends since January this year so it’s about time. I’ll be leaving on Monday with British Airways as pretty much every airline was fully booked. I’ve never travelled with them before, so don’t know quite what to expect. People are travelling like crazy to or through Scandinavia right now and tickets prices are sky-high. I guess that’s what I get for leaving it last-minute. Anyways, if anyone of my reader will be on the plane leaving Bangkok 11.30 let me know. 🙂

Rest of the day I’m locking myself in to read for my exams on Wednesday.

Best burger in Bangkok?

Agh, doesn’t that look juicy… 😉

While picking my beef and veggies made in the slow cooker at home for lunch today Tom sent me an awesome snap of his lunch containing delicious salad, salmon, coconuts and rice and chicken. I was drooling by looking at it and got even more excited when he made me promise we’d go for burgers at New York Steak & Burger in soi 22 after work. I was going crazy and felt like I finally had something to look forward to and decided to skip my oats and save up calories for some delicious burger (yes, I’m trying to diet for a while). I feel like I’m making Tom sound like a crazy eater but he had just finished a crazy leg day and whatever meals he ingested today was well deserved. I was kind of scared Tom was just talking out of hunger after workout so I made sure he didn’t forget throughout the day.

When we got there we ordered the only two spicy options they have “The Atomic” and “The Firehouse Chilli” as we usually do. We chose fries as a side for one and salad on the other, as one side serving of fries is enough for two persons IMO. Anyways… over to the burger.. We always get ours medium rare, so it’s very important they get this part right. There’s nothing worse than places that grills your meat too long. This place though, OMG, the meat is so soft and the amount of bread, cheese and other fillings is just right. It’s not too full to be able to eat it with both your hands and not wet and falls apart either.

This is definitely one of my favourite burger places in Bangkok, and I can’t wait til we move back to soi 22 and get to eat there more often. The price might be a bit high compared to other good burger places like Daniel Thaiger and Fatty’s, but in return you do get higher quality ingredients. I’m still not sure if they beat Chef bar though.

Been craving thick heels with angle straps for ages. I have found a few here but EVERY SINGLE TIME they’re out of my size. It so hard finding shoes here in Bangkok, especially when you’re a 38.5, cus 38 tends so be small here and 39 is always out!! Ah, I love love these.

I love wearing blazers with short crop tops so this time I paired it with a laidback printed one, as it was a chill night out.

I’ve been searching forever to find a white blazer in my size and my length. Even in Europe that’s a problem. Small sizes always sells out and if they do have small sizes it’s only the short ones. I do like short jackets too, but I always liked longer and slimmer fits for blazers. This one I found at H&M at EmQuartier. If you’re like me and like a slimmer fit, go down one size, as the waist was a little big. I got mine in 32, and there’s still room to grow in it.

I’m obsessed with skirts, and I want them all textures colours and shapes possible. If you take the BTS to Chong-Nonsi and walk to Virgin active, you will see a couple of “street vendors” displaying their clothes along the floors. Some nights I see this couple selling skirts there. I always try to grab a new one every time I come across them, as they always change their styles, and the prices are only 150-180 baht. Also, their one size sizing fits so well.

Everyone need at least one pair of thick ankle strap heels, I’ve been looking for these for ages. Every time I’ve come across them here in Bangkok they’re always out of my size, so annoying. I really want a pair in black, but I guess I have to wait until next month and get some in London or New York. I found these ones at Mango in Silom. I have to say though- these ones get uncomfortable pretty fast, which kind of defeats the purpose of getting thick heels.

Swimwear to die for

Just got this amazingly hot and playful bikini from Khongboon swimwear.

For those of you that haven’t heard of the brand yet, it’s a collection of handmade luxury swimwear created by Thai designer Supaporn Khongboon, inspired by her travels around the world.

The details are fun, flirty, and colourful all at the same time.

There’s four different styles, and I found the best one for my body shape was the criss-cross top and cheeky bottom. You don’t have to buy the whole set and can mix and match as you please.

For those who does think this is showing way too much skin, don’t worry…They have bikinis for all body types and in every single colour and pattern you can imagine.

I fell for this orange pattern one, and what’s awesome is that you can wear all of them inside out, so you never have to be dull, wearing the same ones over and over again. Mine turns plain orange if I wear it inside out.

I love all the details and how it shapes your bum. I can never find the in-between thing when I browse for bikini bottoms, they are either showing way too much butt or they make them look like pancakes :p

There’s so many pretty ones which makes it really hard to choose. When it comes to sizing, I would say their system is for smaller girls. I usually wear an XS bottom and S top in Europe, and after looking at the chart I had to go up a size and chose a bottom in S, which fit me perfectly. The top was between S and M and I went for the S, where as I should have gone one size up. I guess what I’m saying is – make use of the size chart!

All in all, I think pretty much every girl will love this brand – I mainly buy bikinis from Victoria’s Secret, as I always find flaws in other bikinis and never re-use them, and I think Khongboon is just as good as what the Angels wear. I can’t say how much I love the cheeky bottom. Also, for me who loves to do activities on the beach or even work out there, this top really fits and I don’t have to be scared of things falling out, haha. I think you girls know what I mean. Also no buckles on this model so you don’t have to worry about being denied on the slides at water parks. I was super sad wearing a Victoria’s Secret one where the locking system on the back is made out of metal, and they wouldn’t allow me to go on it.

I’m very excited for them, a Thai brand getting huge internationally. I’ve seen the brand on several big models names, and it’s also been shown in magazines like Vogue, Tatler, Glamour and W+.

Sukhothai

I guess everyone who goes to Thailand has to visit Sukhothai. You don’t need that much time there, and I would recommend you go there as a pit stop and not as your main destination, as it’s not the most exciting place to go. We made a quick visit as I got a free night at the Sukhothai heritage– so we thought we better use it, and also get to see the pretty temples at the same time.

We were pretty excited to stay there, having seen the hotel at a travel fair earlier. The hotel was nice and had a genuine Thai touch. It’s really pretty at night time as the whole hotel is filled with golden lights. Though, I would recommend going there for Loi Krathong instead. That’s what stole our attention at the travel fair. Beautiful girls and boys in traditional Thai costumes dancing, fireworks and lanterns in the sky. Thai people are so great at festivals.

So as I said, we had minimal time there, we left Bangkok in the afternoon, stayed the night there- went to the temples in the morning, and went straight back after. We pretty much only enjoyed the temples and the other sights and didn’t spend too much time acquiring more knowledge. There’s a museum right next to the park so there’s actually no excuse, oh well… next time!

You can either drive into the park with a car, like we did. (The sun was blazing the day we went there, so it felt amazing having the air-con.) Or you can rent bikes to enter. I think foreigner price was around 150thb and only 30 baht for Thai’s.

Flash tattoos

I’ve been obsessed with these metallic temporary tattoos lately, and especially now that summer is around the corner. I’ve used them to pretty much every festival we’ve been to so far, and will definitely put them on for some nice photos and showing off on the beach. Mine are from Bling my thing. Until the 21^st this month, they give away a one for every purchase over 29 USD. You better take a look while you have the chance. My favourite collection is Simple is beautiful. I’ve been using their milkyway covers on my iphone 5 and 6 and not a single crystal has been detached yet. I’ll show you all real soon!
