    Beer festival and ramen burgers

Yesterday we went to celebrate a friends birthday at Viva 21 in Thonglor , it’s safe to say that lots of food and drinks were consumed so today was a chill day. I’ve actually never been at any of the Viva restaurants/bars, but only heard good things and I got a positive impression after last night. The decor is nice and trendy and the food was pretty good too. I would love to go check out the Viva 8 at JJ Market and Viva Aviv by the river, as  people are raving about these.

The plan was for us to go to the travel fair at Queen Sirikit today followed by some food and shopping at farmers market by the river, but we ended up skipping the farmers market and went to the one outside Emquartier instead, as Tom wanted to show me some goodies he had found in Zara first.

There was a little weekend market outside Emquartier so I did my shopping there, finding some delicious smoked duck from Vivin, and some natural granola from Skinni Bears, I can’t wait to try these as I’m swearing to salads as one of my daily meals hence the duck. I’m also using greek yoghurt or non-fat yoghurt as a snack, so I think some granola will do the trick. I love how they also had an option without butter.

I also tried the ramen burger that people have been going crazy over, and I have to say, I was not impressed. I don’t know where the problem was because I liked the noodle, beef, cheese AND bacon, it was just the combination of it all that put me off. I definitely would recommend people to try it though, you might find a place in your heart for it as so many others have.

We later made it to the travels fair which is one of our favourite fairs of all times, today was the last time so you guys will just have to wait a few months for the next one. There’s lots of inspiration and tips for travels there, there are also lots of great deals, you just have to look carefully as some of them are pretty much the same as you can find on Agoda.

Hahaha happy little babies. Winning rules.

As we both love water parks and theme parks, it was no shock that we ended up getting a ticket to Cartoon Network waterpark. I even ended up winning us a yearly pass to the waterpark, so I’m pretty sure we’ll be back a couple of times. I was actually hoping for the pizza set but what the heck. We also got something that seems to be an awesome beer festival in Kanchanaburi called Craft’n Roll. Needless to say there will be free flow of craft beers, and the idea is that you get handed one beer glass that you take around to the different stations to get a refill. I can also see lots of American junk food on the menu, so I think the event will be a winner. The music is played by Thai bands and I’m super excited for this. The beer carniva named Craft’n Roll will be held around the grounds of  Mida resort, so we got a tent stay there as well. The tent has an aircon, so it won’t be as hardcore as festivals normal are, but I would say it’s much needed here in Thailand.
Are some of you thinking about going to the beer festival in Kanchanaburi? The event will be held on the 12th of December!

Why green tea should be a part of your diet

I’ve never really been a tea person, but after reading up on the health benefits of tea, and especially green tea, I try to drink it as often as I can. I used to be a lot better at it drinking it every morning, but somehow the habit got lost along the way. So from today; I will change things around, green tea first thing when I wake up.

There are so many nice options for green tea in Thailand, but the one we are using now we picked up from our travels through Nepal. It’s crazy how cheap the green tea is there. In Thailand I always end up paying 3-500 from markets or 300 baht from a little package of japanese green tea from Villa Market. Does anyone know where I can get some reasonable priced green tea here, please let me know.

For Tom’s birthday last year I surprised him with a long weekend trip to Chiang Rai and we stumbled upon this beautiful “little” tea center called tea center 101 on the way up to Mae Salong. They have all types of tea and show you how to drink it, list the benefits, and also sells all kinds of cups, pots and whatever you can imagine it being possible to drink tea from. They also had some delicious honey we brought home. On the way out I saw they had some cherry wine that I really wanted to buy, until they let me taste it, it was so strong I didn’t know what to do, haha. They had many different makes of these too so i definitely recommend you to try it if you ever go there.

While writing this post I went through my photo album from our trip to Chiang Rai, wanting to post some of the photos in this blog post but I’m going to keep it strictly to the tea, so I will be sharing it in it’s own post, as there are so many photos I want to show you.

Since Tom is an English man, well at least part English, he’s always been a fan of tea, whereas me just drinking it, just because it’s cold or I’m out in the mountains. Somehow warm drinks tastes delicious in high altitude. Anyways, my point was, I didn’t start drinking it until I did a little research on my own about it and found the health benefits to green tea, or even tea in general.

After reading it I thought it was dumb not to at least give it a try, and after a while I started to love drinking it.

Not only does green tea give me a lot of energy, but I believe it helps with increasing my fat burning too.

tea sets from thailand with floral print and grea tea in cup

Got these cute little sets, for only 100 baht each… they make drinking tea quite a hazzle, but at least it looks fancy! The tea “pot” on the other hand makes it so easy, if you are drinking tea without tea bags, you just put the tea in the top part, push a little button on the top and if filters the tea for you.

The list goes on and on but here are the top five reasons that convinced me.

    1. Weight Loss. Green tea increases the metabolism. The polyphenol found in green tea works to intensify levels of fat oxidation and the rate at which your body turns food into calories.
    2. Diabetes. Green tea apparently helps regulate glucose levels slowing the rise of blood sugar after eating. This can prevent high insulin spikes and resulting fat storage.
    3. Cholesterol. Green tea reduces bad cholesterol in the blood and improves the ratio of good cholesterol to bad cholesterol.
    4. Blood Pressure. Regular consumption of green tea is thought to reduce the risk of high blood pressure.
    5. Anti-viral and Anti-bacterial. Tea catechins are strong antibacterial and antiviral agents which make them effective for treating everything from influenza to cancer. In some studies green tea has been shown to inhibit the spread of many diseases.

Are you also becoming a regular tea drinker now?

    The longest day …

girl with long legs standing outside condo in bangkok

Tuesday is the longest day of the week for me so now that it’s over I’m going to bed with a big smile. Today I got back to the gym again, and it felt good. I’ve had a problem with protein shakes before, because it leaves me warm and makes me feel nauseous, especially if I have them with only water. And it happened again today, so the beginning of my workout was really slow. I normally add a banana to it or some non-fat yoghurt and it helps a lot, but since I was looking forward to a big meal after the workout I wanted to save calories.

I’ always go for Dymatize strawberry flavour, it tastes so delicious. But this week I wanted to try something different so I got the MusclePharm Chocolate peanut butter flavour, it tasted so so good I’m definitely getting more of this in the future.

I’m still working out at our condo gym, so I’m not making any gains at the moment, but I’ve come to peace with that. I just want to be lean for the our trip and then get back to it when we get back home. I think I’m going to go on a binge while in the US and Europe though…I can’t wait to get back to a proper gym. It’s not hard to find a good gym in Bangkok, but you always have to sign up for so long otherwise the prices are ridiculous. I still recommend Virgin Active gym though, and I would definitely start there again if it was even closer to our new place. I think smart fitness will be the best option. Also, our condo gym at Aguston is pretty decent. It going to be great to move back, we already have plans for how we are going to change things. We are definitely going back to Ikea for some smart storage solutions. I was so happy when we moved here seeing our current place has two floors and double the amount of space, but there was just something about Aguston that makes it feel more like home. I also love how there is a lot more happening around there, and it will also be a lot closer to work. We always used to go to the cinema or have late dinners at Emporium, so I am pretty stoked about the times ahead now that there are so many more options at Emquartier. There will always be something new to try out.

    Hello monday

    Happy monday sunshines. <3

I’m ready for a long week of work and trying to kick it at the gym again. My legs were hurting so bad after friday’s party by Neon Bangkok I had to stay in bed and ice them.  It was so so so much fun and I swear we were dancing from 10 – 2 am then me and Tom needed to move around even more so we went to Glow for a couple of hours after. I loved the music at the event in both of the rooms. I love how I could actually sing along to the songs because that rarely happens.

Like my little outfit? Tom chose it while we were at H&M. I kinda like it, it’s cute and goes well with my flower printed Vans from WearYouWant.

This weekend we’ve been having a couple of meetings, eating followed by more eating and was trying to recover from friday activities pretty much every day.

I’m cooking myself this week, getting some inspiration from healthbox and doing some of my own stuff. There’s lots of fruit, salad, chicken, pork and rice. . I’m having troubles eating enough carbs though, I used to think that I ate a lot, but now that I measure it I under eat by far. My proteins are sky high, and my fat is also a little bit over the limit. Tomorrow I’m going to try to add more chicken and… less cheese than today, haha. Meaning I’ll take down the fat levels a little bit. I’ll also add rice.

girl smiling wearing a silver ring with brown hair

Finally fixed my nails. I have no patience to do it myself, and I rarely make it a thing to go do my nails. It’s so easy and cheap to get it done in Thailand, I should go do it more often. It looks so much better. These are painted with gel paint in MBK. Like the colour?

It’s hard keeping your fat levels low when you have meat like pork, and are as obsessed with cheese as I am. I think I will have some egg whites and lean ham for breakfast, chicken salad for lunch, 0% fat yoghurt and oats for snacks and rice, veggies and chicken for dinner. I’ll also have shakes before and after the gym and some casein before bed time. Ugh, I get so hungry writing about food.

We also went to Ikea yesterday (I LOVE IKEA) and got lots of treats, I can’t wait for weekend to be here again. I’m gonna cook up some meatballs (we didn’t have time to make it this week), make fried cheetos mozzarella sticks that I saw on facebook the other day, AND make my little sisters delicious snickers cake. I hope I can make it half as yummy as hers. It is though to diet, but it’s worth it once you start seeing results. I think when I get where I want to be I’ll just work out more, and be more relaxed about my eating. I’m in need of this diet right now, since I have been going a little overboard. It’s also good to know you can control yourself.

OK.. now it’s time for bed, I’ll talk to you all tomorrow. We were planning to go watch Attack on  Titan at IMAX Paragon today btw, don’t go! It’s dubbed and no English subtitles… even if the Moveedoo website said so. I guess we need to find another cinema to go watch it in, unless they change the subtitles sometime soon.

    Goodnight! xx

I’m in love with the coco

pineapple and coconut oil on a table

Cold pressed coco nut oil, Tom got it from Koh Talu last a couple of years ago, meaning you don’t have to apply that much per treatment.

My hair has been going crazy these days, I’m suspecting it was from straightening my hair one day back in Norway, while it was still wet. It feels like a piece of wool. I think I’ll be going to the hairdresser for a treatment in soon unless this coconut oil works for me. I’ve been using coconut oil when my hair has been dry before and it’s worked like a charm. I love how it has no chemicals and leaves the smooth, sleek and strong afterwards.

I also love the smell of the oil, it takes me straight back to the beach and makes me feel so calm. The downside is that you have to deal with greasy hair for a couple of days, oh well.

pineapple and coconut oil on balcony table

You can find coconut oil pretty much everywhere in Thailand…

I saw a DIY hair treatment by a friend of my here in Bangkok too, I might try that if have some extra time on my hands. girl holding her hair wearing a sports bra

I used to be addicted to hair extensions before, so that’s left quite a mark on my hair too. I used it from when I was 14-21 years and my hair never got any longer as I kept on cutting it and putting on new extensions. My hair hasn’t been this long naturally for 10 years, it’s crazy. I do feel it’s a little bit short, and I would love some more volume, so after shooting a little bit with Tom yesterday I decided to order some hair clips. I only got around 7 pieces for a total of 70 g of 18” remy hair, so it will only be for volume and maybe 1 cm of length. I’m so excited for it to arrive, as I have been missing it a lot. I’ll most likely only wear it for photos and out and about on occasion, as human hair clips tend to get very annoying.

girl holding her hair looking out balcony

So happy for it be friday today, my last day of eating healthy for the week and counting calories before my binge eating tomorrow. I’ve planned to eat pizza, bamee, cheese doodles, daim, my white kinder bueno that I’ve been saving for 2 weeks now!, swedish meatballs I ordered from work and hopefully some mexican from Casa Azul. I’m going to be in a food coma.

Tonight we are going to the NEON – Night Lights to have some fun and dance, dance, dance, so I’ll be burning off everything- ready for tomorrow.

Will I be seeing any of you there?

    Dreaming about Spain

    palms at albir beach

Dreaming about sunny Spain these days. It will be the last stop on our trip and we managed to plan it so we get almost one whole week there. Last trip was brief and we only got around 4 days and it’s still so much I want to show Tom. For those of you who don’t know, my mom moved to Spain when I was around 13 years, so I did a couple of months each year of middle school at DNSCB which is a Norwegian private school located in L’Alfàs del Pi , I also ended doing my last year of high school there so it’s feels like my… can I say third home? It was definitely the best year of school I’ve ever had as the teachers there a lot better,of course the weather and way of living plays a large role too.

Last trip we went to Guadalest, Valencia and explored our area around Albir, Altea and Benidorm. This trip we are definitely adding  Fonts de l’Algar to our list.  We are also hoping to make a little trip to Madrid or Barcelona. Our place isn’t far away from Ibiza so we might even do that. I guess it depends on how it plays out. We have a tight schedule for the other places we are visiting so we might want to chill when we get here.

I’m also up for finding the best spot for paella and drink and eat as much tapas and wine as I can. I’m obsessed with Tapas. I could eat that every day. I know I’ll be filling my bags with cheese and cold cuts for my return to Thailand.

My favourite restaurant in Altea is this little place called Ostau and I can’t wait to take Tom there. They have the best tenderloin and wine selection ever. I hope it’s still as good as when I used to live there, which was like 5 years ago so I’m scared.

Talking about great restaurants we made a trip to Gaggan last night to try their tasting menu and it was one fun ride. I’ll tell you all about it another post.

What are up to on this wednesday?
