    5 new faves!

This weekend was all about chilling, after being sick the whole week I finally felt better and had my voice back on Friday. Luckily I don’t work on Fridays so we went to the Wow market at K-Village to get some good stuff to eat. I think food markets are my favourite type of market ever.

I’ve never been an açaí bowl fanatic, but knowing about the health benefits of the super berry itself, there is no reason not to jump on the “mainstream” wagon. Also it tastes great, and sometimes making a smoothie bowl at home- and especially being able to get your hands on some acai pulp here in Bangkok is hard. I would say this is my new favourite breakfast/lunch item. You can find them at Vita Cafe in Sukhumvit soi 23.

Wearing my wrist watch form Daniel Wellington.

    This kid…

K Village is one of the few “malls” where you can bring your pet along without any hassle.

I’m a sucker for lemonade on warm summer days, and this place seriously has the best lemonade I’ve had in Thailand so far. Taste so fresh and not sweet at all. I got the honey lemon, but they have loads of different flavours. You can find them here.

Use my code “anita17” for a 15% discount! I have the Classic Petite Bondi 32m.

Best burger in Bangkok if you take value for money into consideration. 150 baht for a beef burger filled with their signature sauce, bacon, crispy onion ring and homemade bread. Find out where they are heading next.

On Saturday we went to The Movement Playground for some Spartan training. If you are looking to brush up on strength and technical skills this is THE place to go. I think we all agreed that this was one of our most favourite workouts for the Spartan so far. If it wasn’t so far away from where I live I would definitely sign up. So.. if you are living in Bangna area, check it out! We also went to check out the Neon Market in the evening and it’s quite nice and not too crowded. I had expected a little bit more due to the hype earlier this year, but the food and drink selection are good. Today was all about reading and I also went to the dentist again… agh, I really want this root canal to be over. Just one more visit!

Afternoon tea at the Siam Kempinski

girl having afternoon tea in bangkok at siam kempinski

5* for the creamy butter for the scones! Am I weird for choosing green tea for my afternoon tea?

As most of you know already from reading my blog, you know my love for afternoon tea is real. There’s never been a place that has quite managed to steal my heart away as the Dhara Dhevi in Chiang Mai, but now I found someone who can match them. Not mainly because of the eatables, Dhara Dhevi will always have my heart there, mostly because of their amazing macaroons. They make the best pistachio macaroons, but they also have original and exciting flavours like mango sticky rice. So yummy!

This is the spot for afternoon tea! Hanuman Bar.

    Such a pretty set-up.

    afternoon tea siam kempinski

It was only me and Tom who went and there was no chance for us to finish it all. You get one pot of hot chocolate, two pots of tea of your choice and all these sweet and savory treats- I think this is perfect for 4 people. We didn’t even eat before we got here!

Though the sweet and savoury pieces at the Siam Kempinski were all very delicious, it was more the experience and service that made the trick. I’ll give them 10/10 for making the best hot chocolate ever, that means a lot as I come from Norway, where hot chocolate is a stample drink in the winter. The staff is on point- carefully explaining every single ingredient of the hot chocolate as they make it in front of you. Pure chocolate, chilli, orange… So if you’re ever in Siam Paragon or that area, wanting to sit down and relax, this is the spot. The price is right, and the set can easily be enough for up to four people.

    Sugar happy!

I’ve been really good with dieting up until now- starting for before we went to Maldives (video here). I even hit my number and was planning to stay there, but then all these events are coming up, people coming to visit (not complaining guys, I love visitors!), birthday parties, Songkran. We’ve been out 3 times this week, and the coming week there’s another 2 birthday parties, AND Kolor Warehouse in the weekend. So I might as well eat as I please for now, I’m certainly not going to cut down on food to give space for the cocktails and cake. Ah, then there’s Together festival on the 29th- the lineup is too big to miss out on! I have to say, after hitting this age I dread going out. Once a week and I’m already complaining about bad habits. So these past weeks have and are going to take a toll on my health, hehe. For sure I’ll be welcoming May AND my 25th year on this planet with something different from what April had to bring.

Best newcomer on the block: Ciao Pizza

I think I’ve found the best pizza in Bangkok…We did a little shoot for booking.com at the end of last and encountered Ciao Pizza. The pizza is amazing, not to mention all the other flavourful Italian food they have on the menu. I can go as far as saying this is my new favourite pizza here, and I’ve tried pretty much all of them. The burrata cheese with cured ham and rocket salad was something totally different from what you get when you usually order the Serrano ham pizza. The crust is thin and crispy but the cheese keeps it soft in every bite. The mixture of flavours makes it perfect. It’s so tasty!

They also serve some delicious desserts. We had the Panacotta with raspberry. It’s served with those cracking things you had with your lollipop as a kid. So fun!

We also tried their salads and homemade pasta with meatballs, and it was no less. I like how they have the similar things as other Italian restaurants but their way of making it is unique.

So, now you now where to go for dinner today, don’t miss out Xx

    Meat galore at Crying Thaiger

Shoutout to one of the best meat experiences in Bangkok. We already know that Daniel Thaiger serves the best burgers in Bangkok if you take the price in to consideration. It’s always been simple, juicy and delicious. But this time, at their new restaurant Crying Thaiger– they’ve become even more creative-making burgers like mac & cheese burger, larb burger, lamb burger ++ I obviously went for the mac & cheese burger…It was soo good, super soft, and easy to bite into! The lamb chops served with jim jaew was no less. Next time, I’m going for the tomahawk. I wanted to get one last time I went, but you have to book a day in advance.

Love the wall art at Crying Thaiger made by Kat Jones!

Perfect and creamy burrata cheese… mmm…

Lamb chops with Thai sides, flavour explosion!

    fries crying thaiger

An amazing creation, it started off as a fun experiment but it blew peoples mind and has been on the menu since.

    burger crying thaiger

Mac & Cheese burger with truffle fries… this must be AT LEAST 1000 kcal of yummyness.

There might be some of you that aren’t super into meat and they have great options for you too. The burrata cheese in on point, until now the burrata cheese from Peppina has been high on the list, but I think Crying Thaiger tops it! They also have a simple yet tasteful Caesar salad too. Oh- and one thing you must try! Their Lab fries, they are AMAZING! Super spicy and packed with flavours. I was too full to try out any of the desserts after all the eating, but they do have a nice dessert list too so save some space. Oh, and cocktails!

    Boat Noodles at Victory Monument

When I moved to Thailand, I never saw myself as a noodle person and I always steered away from having to eat it.  It felt like everyone was on a noodle craze! I think my main problem was that I’m not a fan of noodle soup and secondly (and maybe the cause of me not liking noodle soup) that it was tasteless. That’s what happens when you grow up in a Norwegian family and have an overly protective mother that doesn’t feed you spicy food. Or friends with a bad stomach that is!

So yummy! There’s so much flavour. The trick is to eat as many as you can and stack them. We always get 10+ bowls of sen lek nua (thin noodles with beef)

Thankfully I met Tom, who is quite the noodle expert, let alone that he loves the spices just as much as me, who- first of all, introduced me to dried noodles (haeng) and second of all- my favourite noodles ever. BOAT NOODLES. We were so obsessed with it for a while and drove far just to try out new ones, but nothing beats the boat noodles in Victory monument. The portions are PERFECT, and there is enough veggies and meat to taste all of it in every slurpppp. SO GOOD.

How do you find these amazing bowls of deliciousness you may ask? Get on a BTS to Victory monument and ask for boat noodles or kuaitiao ruea and the locals will know. Otherwise just walk towards the klongs!

A vegan lunch with a twist

I’m not one for vegan dishes nor vegetarian dishes, but I have heard so many good things about Broccoli Revolution so I just had to go. First of all their interior is perfect for Instagram photos and blogging, which also goes hand in hand with their food presentation. The food is so fresh and you rather forget that you’re not having any meat, let alone that you’re having super healthy dishes. Since there is no meat you are rewarded with a full plate of veggie based ingredients, seeds, quinoa and all the good stuff that you eat way too little of on a day to day basis. The food is put together in a fun way with a little twist that makes it fun to eat. I would definitely recommend you to order the smoothie bowl, broccoli quinoa burger and for Thai food the Khao Kaprao Hed, it’s so tasty!

Berry bowl, my fave, it was so fresh.

Now I’m off to a long day at Sampeng Market, we still haven’t gone for our Christmas decoration shopping . We’ve been planning to go for ages now but there’s been so many other sites and things to show our visitors. So far we’ve covered JJ green, Chatuchak weekend market, Khao San Road, cruising along the river and just eating at endless amounts of restaurants. That said, we’ve still managed to kick some ass in the gym, it’s nice having some new but familiar faces with us in the gym.
