Dining at Bunker

There’s so many new restaurants opening in Bangkok and so little time on hand. We’re always talking about trying out all the new places around town but often just end up at the same old favorite places or new places around our area. If you live in Bangkok you know how anticlimactic the traffic is… Sathorn and Silom is one of the hippest areas in town for cocktails and food, so during our little staycation at the SO Sofitel we made sure to try out some of the treasures in that Area.

The first day we went for some nibbles at Bunker. I was full after our meal but the reason I say nibbles is that Bangkok Magazine mentioned that you had to spend around 6000 on a dinner for two. We spent around 2500 and Tom even enjoyed one of their cocktails in that price. Their cocktail menu is exciting and the prices are relatively low. I kind of regret not having a cocktail but I was going straight for the Mojito Monday and SO Sofitel’s MIXO bar so I had to save the calories, more about that later. Tom had an Old Fashioned cocktail as usual and said it was the best one he’s had so far!

I like the vibe of Bunker, it’s all set in a concrete building. The lights are dimmed with modern industrial decor. I loved the turquoise chairs and the marble-like tables. We went there on a Monday around 6 pm and the place was already full by 7. It’s surely is a trendy place to be seen.
The food was simple, fresh and not least delicious. The flavors are different, some- you will have to guess your way to if you didn’t memorize the menu. We went for one starter, one small pasta and one main dish, the portions are great for sharing.
